The Latest

Walking in the shoes of a historical character.

Luther
My hammer in hand,
        Many a change to demand,

A beat against the hail Mary,
A beat against the unjust clergy,
A beat against the greed defense,
And a beat against the penitence.

A beat against the Pope's glory,
       A beat against the purgatory,
    A beat against buying souls,
And a beat against those heaven tolls,
A beat against all selfish ways,
That's not how Christians spend their days.
Now,
A beat for the Holy Gospel,
A beat for doer of the impossible,
A beat for his mercy and grace,
And a beat to one day see his face.

  Let's not mock his sacrifice,
It was Christ's blood that paid the price,
Through quiet taking of our fates,
He paved the way to heaven's gates,
What greater wealth could there be,
Than from sin's bondage to be free,
Rise up!
     In Christ's Holy name, Amen

Getting it off my chest

                                                          Out of this World

I'm in it yet I'm out of it,
My body is in but my heart is not,
At times its like a cage,
                                                           This world fallen away,
                                                           This world who has forgotten,
                                                           And in its arrogance
                                                           Does not care to remember,
                                                           All these things are bars,
A torment for every now and then,
I'm sure we're all ready to admit it,
                                                           This world is not perfect.

                                                           But why?
                                                           Why, so many people wonder,
                                                           What tore its beauty asunder?
                                                           Many a philosopher has tried,
                                                           Exploring the question's every avenue
                                                           Narrow and wide.
But it all boils down to drivel,
                                                           Arguments that wither and shrivel,

                                                           I cover my ears,
                                                           Deafened by the tormenting buzzing,
They glower down on little me,
                                                           Apart from what they see,
                                                           Being out of this world,
The answer is so simple to me,
                                                           How to be complete,
                                                           Strong,
                                                           And free.

                                                           One word,
                                                           One name,
                                                           One way,
Something we all need to consider today,
                                                           God.

Be above it all.

                                                                       Dispelled

                                                                 Without the lashing rain,
                                                                 Roaring thunder,
                                                                 Lightning flashing,
                                                                 We'd never know a rainbow,

                                                                 Without anything to worry us,
                                                                 We'd never know peace,
                                                                 Without the gift of pain,
                                                                 We'd never know relief,

God above let's us have our storms
But only to show us we can rise above it,
                                                                 We can ride our rainbows,
Ride up to his hands in glory,
                                                                 Be held in his love,
                                                                 High above,
                                                                 High above,
                                                                 High above,
                                                                 Where all is dispelled.

Making a picture of something abstract

                                                                 Inspiration

                                                                It's a fleeting thing
                                                                Mysterious as the undersea,
And as unpredictable as a phone's ring.
                                                                Inspiration,
Sparked by all sorts of things.

                                                               After much consideration,
I liken it to a colony of bubbles,
Dancing brightly in front of my eyes,
                                                               Masking,
                                                               Personifying,
And often solving a variety of troubles.

                                                               Inspiration,
                                                               A tool,
                                                               A drive,
                                                               My own color,
                                                               A surprise!
                                                               Inspiration,
Without it we could not live our lives.

Happy New Year!!!

                                                                   Blank Page
                                          We all have our books,
True, original stories of our lives,
                                                               Chapters of experience,
                                                               Phrases of unique philosophy
                                                              Always evolving.

                                                              Time is the page turner,
                                                              Leaving the story of yesterday
And bringing the blank pages of tomorrow,

                                                              A new year,
                                                              A new part,
A new time for God to work in your heart,
Enjoy the filling of those blank pages.
