(For Murtagh from Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle)
The Prisoner.
Bound by chains beyond what eyes see,
Chains of what the world expects him to be,
Links with dreadful names,
Evil,
Bloodlust,
Wicked traitor,
Traitor! Traitor! Traitor!
Torturous titles he wishes would depart with ease,
Ease like wind blown dust,
Ease of dead winter's freeze.
Alas, alas, alas,
Will he ever be free?
Yes! With strength such as his it will be so!
For better things his name they'll all know,
Links shatter from the passage of time,
Far, far too weak to bind,
And free to the skies his soul shall rise.

(Dedicated to the general population of the U.S.A. I'm very annoyed with this problem.)
Blank.
Blank.
I'm going to kick your blank,
He's such a blank!
Blank off!
Shut up blank!
Sound familiar?
I'm sure you can fill in those blanks,
But don't because I'm so blanken sick of it!
Blank this, blank that, blank
Every other blankin word,
Blankety, blankety, blankety, blahhhh!!
Get it? No? Then let me get it
Through your blankin head!
Garbadge talk, all garbadge talk,
Now and then I understand,
But its NOT no and then anymore!
Mr. Dialogue has taken a permanant vacation to
Dumpsterville,
You know its true,
How many blankin profanities
Have you coughed up today?
Can't remember?
That's what I thought.
Blank, blank, blank blahhhh!
Just the thought makes me sick!
Does it never blankin occur to you
That you offend?
Of course not!
You, as you would say,
"Don't give a blank."
And that's the whole blankin problem!
First it's common courtesy you
Don't give a blank about,
Then other people can go blank off,
"Blank the boss who fired me!"
"Blank the apartment building owners
Who threw me out!"
"Blank life!"
News flash!
The blankin world doesn't
Revolve around blankin you!
Try on the old coat called
CONSIDERATION,
Think before you speak,
Count those blanks,
Make the number lower,
Make your anger slower,
De-blank it all.

My Door
If felons be running free,
Behind my door light they'll never see,
Twist and pull, twist and pull,
It will do them no good at all,
So sensitive!
In I walk,
And it acts like it locks,
Trapping me in four walls
Prison's no fun at all!
I kick it first,
Sigh and growl,
Nasty trick!
Incredibly foul!
"Come on stupid! I have things to do!
Twould be easier if not blocked by you!"
Twist yank, twist yank,
"LET ME OUT!!!!"

(And now for my wicked, wicked villain)
Venomous Viper
He lurks amidst branches of beauty
Coils lineing lively leaves shining,
But beneath lies darkness unruly,
Blood pouring, endless cruelty.
The venomous viper's fangs spread far
And wide,
Even in the most secluded corner it is hard
To hide,
All who serve him cower,
Before his flames that devour,
Owned down to the soul by its enslaving glow.
To fail him is doom,
To miss the target is death,
He orders eternal suffering in single, swift
Breath,
No mercy comes from him,
No goodness, no light,
In order to escape him,
Useing truth you must fight.

My character poems continue with one of my favorites. He was such fun to write in both the book and the poem I just finished. Enjoy!!!
Man of the Sea.
Since his days in a crib
And his first little steps,
He was called by the sea's
Salted, whispering breath,
The sea bewitching blue,
Waves rolling and tumbling hypnoticly,
Licking the sands wholeheartedly.
In a ship black as midnight,
He sails into the setting sun's light.
Carrying a sword for swashbuckling
And hefting greed on his back.
He sings with the dolphins,
Gaggles with the gulls,
And is as untamable as a roaring
Hurricane.
Once you've met him,
You'll never forget the name Captain Red
Emily Norris.
(First was the heroine, now it's the hero. His name illustrates all.)
Tenaciously traveling the path to truth.
E merging with great courage.
N ever ceasing to believe in what's right.
No reluctance to learn from a mistake.
Yearning to show the world the path he's found.
Emily Norris.

The path he takes. Darkness he faces.
WILL HE SURVIVE?

The next few poems are written for characters in my upcoming novel. Release date to be announced soon.
First the main heroin:
Anna.
Beneath hair of ruby fire,
Below a pale mask,
Behind eyes of emerald
True beauty amassed,
A mind of great vastness,
Dreams without bounds,
Loyalty beyond measure,
With love she sorrounds.
Queen of character quality,
Princess of priceless personality,
Gem of shining certainty,
A glowing white rose of dignity.
All this is her crowning glory,
Beauty of soul she knows surely,
Both without and within
Her star brightly shines.
Emily Norris.
